Lip makeup
Your make up for lip should be in tone with your face make up as well as your dress. It includes:
Lip pencil:
How to choose lip pencil?
Lip pencil you choose should match the shade of your lipstick. Choose a little bit darker shade than the shade of your lipstick. It would look more attractive as the shape of your lip will appear clearly.
Lipstick:
How to choose lipstick?
Lipsticks come in variety of colors. The color you choose must match not only with your make up but with your dress and other things as well. Soft colors are suited for pale skin and for darker skins, vibrant colors are preferred.
How to apply lipstick?
The last and final step of make up is applying lipstick.
-
Before applying lipstick, prime your lips with some foundation and powder to remove all color from your lips.
-
Outline your lips using a sharp lip liner pencil. The shade of your pencil should be same as that of lipstick or one shade darker than that. For the upper lips, start at the centre and work out towards the corner of the mouth. For the lower lip, work from side to side.
-
Take some lipstick into a brush and fill along the outline of the lips. For the upper lip, start from the centre and work outwards and for the lower lip, work from side to side. Don’t pile too much of color. It is better to add more later than to remove the excess.
-
Open your mouth wide and brush the color into the corners, so the edges must not remain unfilled.
-
Make sure you are not covering the outline of your lips which you have done earlier using lip pencil.
-
Take a clean tissue paper, fold it and place it between your lips. Press the lips lightly. It will remove the excess color and will prevent moving of the color on every glass you use.
-
You can even mix two colors of lipstick. First apply light color tinge then blot it off with the help of tissue paper and then use dark color. Don’t forget to blend it well.
-
Use Vaseline or cream to give lustre to your lips after applying lipstick.
Tip 1: For a natural look of your lips, don’t forget to blot your lips with a tissue paper.
Tip 2: To avoid the smudging of lipstick very easily, apply foundation on your lips before applying lipstick.
Tip 3: For a smart and different look, you can apply shining lip liner.
Tip 4: Balance heavy eye make up with a soft lip color and to complement soft eye make up, wear a rich and boldly colored lipstick.
Shaping up your lips:
Knowing the shape of your lips, you can correct your lip shape and can make your face look more attractive.
-
For thin lips: They can be easily corrected by taking the pencil outside the natural lip line. Work on it slowly and steadily to get the perfect shape. Fill in with the lipstick. A highlight of frosting on the upper lip would create an impression of fullness.
-
For thick lips: This type of lip appear smaller if you draw the outline just within the natural shape. You must use medium toned lip color and avoid dark brows, plums and pale shimmer shades.
-
For crooked lips: You must adjust the outline to provide a perfect balance to avoid asymmetry in lips.
-
For shapeless lips: For such lips, try to make the most flattering shape by emphasizing the centre of lip and then fill carefully.
Lip care:
-
To combat dry lips, use treatment products like a gel exfolinate also known as lip primers.
-
Mix a pinch of crushed sugar in a little lip balm and apply it for 15-20 minutes on your lips. This is another way to combat dry lips.
-
Massage your lips with coriander leaf juice to make soft and rosy lips.
Dark lips
There are various reason for the lips to get dark i.e. the use of cheap brand of lipstick, heavy application of lipstick, sun exposure, drinking tea or coffee in excess (2 cups a day doesn’t matters). The prime cause of dark lips is smoking. Be sure that you are not wearing expired lipstick; this can also be one of the reasons for dark lips. It can also be due to dryness and allergy. For maintaining red lips, fresh air, vitamins and iron are required. Keep your lips free from lipstick as much as you can. Rub it when you are at home. Take plenty of fruits and vegetables – Carrot and orange juice are good for this.
Try these tips:
-
Everyday before going to bed, massage your lips with few drops of glycerine, lime juice and honey.
-
Almond oil is good for discoloration of skin. Almond oil can be anywhere in the body for skin discoloration.
-
Lemon is a natural bleach, apply lemon with a little glycerine at night, it would help.
