This is the better choice for a person who has certain conditions that might not be receptive to a chemical peel with good results. This procedure uses aluminum oxide crystals as an abrasive that removes this top layer of the skin. This procedure encourages the growth of a new, fresh layer of the skin which will not have the discolorations like the layer that was removed. This procedure also cleans out the pores of the skin for a brighter complexion.A chemical peel removes layers of the skin with phenol, alphahydroxy acids and trichloroacetic acid. These chemicals are used at the discretion of the person providing the treatment. These chemicals might be used in different amounts based on the judgment of the person in charge of the procedure. Some plastic surgeons use this procedure when they perform a facelift. This procedure may remove some cells that might develop later into cancer of the skin. A chemical peel may also be used to remove acne. Both of these procedures have become very popular because of the positive results.
